This is my chance to show off my little buckeye and since it is OSU/Michigan weekend I thought what a perfect time. My friends Sue, Bruin and Ewen gave Emily this OSU outfit. I think she looks good in her scarlet and grey. Go Bucks!!

Changes

It is hard to believe that Emily is 1 week old today. Ben and I are just so amazed at how much she changes on a day to day basis. She is smiling, she stares at things, we are noticing more and more aware time everyday, and she turns her head when she hears he mom and daddies voice. It is all pretty cool and very amazing to both of us. We are looking forward to more and more changes in the future but are embracing the time we have with her now.

Emily at Home!

My parents have come to help with little Emily which has been a blessing for us. It has been nice to have help with the house work, cooking, and keeping an eye on Em so we can sleep. So far so good...she is such a good baby and is bring us so much joy. We decided to give Emily her first baby which for the most part she really seemed to like. We have found over the last couple of days how fun it is to try new things with Emily like her bouncy seat which she just loves and is perfect for helping her sleep!

On Monday we took Emily for her first Doctors appointment which went great. When we left the hospital she weighed 5 lbs 11 oz and she had increased her weight to 5 lbs 15 ozs. The doctor said that the increase was great especially since she isn't even a week old.

Bringing Emily Home!

Today was an exciting day...we got to bring Emily home for the first time. I had brought the cutest outfit for Em to wear but she is so small that it just floated on her...poor thing. The weather was perfect (not your typical November weather) 73 and sunny. Once we arrived at home we decided to go for a walk down the street to get some fresh air. I am amazed how good I feel after having a C-Section. Our first night with Emily was a little rough. Ben spent hours bragging about how good Emily is and how she rarely cries well... she decided to use the night to humble her daddy by crying and fussing the first 5 hours. Ben and I learned to take shifts so we both can get some sleep.

Emily Day 3

The last couple of days have been great. We are getting the whole feeding, diaper changing, sleeping thing down. It is amazing to see how each day Emily changes just a bit. She is already growing up in front of our eyes. Today we layed her on the bed to swadled her and she just layed there and stared. It was the most we have seen her awake and alert.

Welcome Precious Emily

On Tuesday (Nov 7th) I ended up going to the doctor because I thought my water might have ruptured. She decided that since I was a week over due and 2cm that I should go to the hospital to get things going. Once Wed morning rolled around they gave me pitocin to get my contractions going faster but by noon I had not progressed as fast as I should be and her heart rate was dropping. The doctor decided to proceed with a C-Section which was my worst fear. The surgery went so much better then I could of imagined. It took 8 minutes and I didn't realize that they had started till they told Ben to stand up and see his daughter. Ben's reaction was priceless. It was amazing to see our wonderful daughter.

Emily was born Nov 8th at 12:48pm. She was 6lbs 1 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. I could not believe how small she is. Our little peanut.

I was in recovery for a long time (till I could move my legs) but during that time we got to spend time with Emily bonding which was amazing. Ben's baby sister Judha was here to help this week so she had the opportunity to meet Emily first. It was great having Judha here to help us with everything. Meeting our daughter for the first time was such an amazing experience for us...it is everything people tell you it is and more.

Fall

Over the last couple of days we have had the most beautiful weather, so we decided to get out and enjoy. Ben of course is obsessed with taking pictures of flowers and trees..he does a really good job. Since Ben had to work mission night on Halloween I was on my own. So I carved our pumpkins and passed out candy to our few trick-or-treaters. I am sad to see this weather go but I guess it makes us appreciate it when we have it.

By the way no Emily yet.
